Stress Breaker Runs Rock

Stress breaker runs rock. Had a nice day at work, came home and went out to dinner with Roy to a local buffet place. What a FREAK SHOW! They used to have healthy choices, but apparently they didn’t feel their customer base was large enough, so literally everything except salad, fat free Italian dressing, and sugar free jello, was covered in butter, fried, fatty, or creamy. Plus we were sitting next to a big family who had one member who was BOOMINGLY loud. Like big family from a sitcom loud. We couldn’t even TALK! So as I stared down at my dry baked potato, feeling sorry for myself, I nearly wanted to cry. We haven’t spent much time together lately because I’ve been so busy, he’s directing his play (opening night last night was wonderful) and we just wanted a quiet dinner together. (The buffet was his idea.) But oh well.

Then as we’re talking he mentions a $200 charge to Walmart.com and I said…no, I hadn’t ordered anything from them. Was he sure, he was pretty sure. So we zipped home (although we did enjoy five minutes of peace once Mr. Sitcom had taken his giant voice home) and checked the bank. Sure enough, three unauthorized charges on our debit card. I called the bank…it took me EIGHT TIMES to get to a real person and I was nearly melting down. Finally got to fraud claim and they couldn’t do anything because the charges were still pending. They also couldn’t cancel my cards. Called another number and THEY couldn’t do anything, but at least they transfered me to someone who could (and who was VERY nice, but spoke very broken English). After almost 45 minutes I got the cards canceled and reissued.

In the meantime Roy ran to the ATM and took out money before they were dead. Whew! He was heading to his play. I had refreshed the screen until I saw he’d finished the withdrawal and then called the final place (that sent me to the other place).

Chase, I am NOT impressed.

I miss the customer service of Wamu.

I needed a run BADLY so I grabbed my gear. Wiley saw me getting ready and pleaded to come so grabbed his gear too. It was dark and I prefer him with me in the dark anyhow. Grabbed my Garmin. It wouldn’t turn on. Huh. Fifteen minutes of fiddling with it, trying different chargers, nothing. I do believe the Garmin, she is dead.

Sigh. Did not actually get upset, surprisingly. Must be the heavy sedation. (Joke) I think it seemed trivial to the idea that my bank account might be drained. (We do not use credit cards. We work on a cash only basis, so it’s a big deal to not have that money available.)

Went out for my run and just used my Nike+. I knew the mileage might be off, but I ran my normal 4.15 route (Nike+ said 4.25) and just ran and ran. Finished and boggled at the time. I guess I was running as hard as it felt I was running!

Ah well…Today a family buried their husband and father who had the audacity to be sitting in his police car, doing his job when someone killed him. The families of 40 people in another part of the country are planning funerals because of a madman. I guess my little drama doesn’t even rate, so I’m just thankful for online banking, time with my husband, and a good hard run on a dark damp night.
